Best Time to Visit Khatu Shyam

The best time to visit Khatu Shyam is from October to March. During this period, the weather is extremely pleasant and ideal for exploring the temple and other religious activities. Among all, the biggest and most well-known festival among thousands of devotees all over the country is Falgun Mela, which falls in February or March.

Other good times are during Janmashtami, usually in August, when the temple is impressively decorated and special prayers are held. However, avoid visiting during the peak summer months of April to June, as the temperature can go really high during that time which is very uncomfortable during pilgrimage.

Booking a Khatu Shyam Tour Package during these optimal times ensures a hassle-free experience, as these packages often include transportation, accommodation, and guided tours, allowing you to focus solely on the spiritual journey.

Best Time to Visit Mathura for Festivals and Celebrations

The festivals and celebrations are best witnessed in Mathura between February and April and again in August, when the colorful celebrations take place. The Holi of March is very grand in Mathura, with the city celebrating with colorful events all around, especially in the neighboring town of Vrindavan.

These months are perfect for outdoor activities and sightseeing around temples and ghats. It is always better to plan travel in advance, especially during Holi and Janmashtami as Mathura can get pretty congested during these times.

Getting a Car Rental in Mathura makes your trip much easier and more fun. You can freely visit all the beautiful places in Mathura. Instead of depending on buses or taxis, you can visit temples and join festivals whenever you want, making your own schedule.

Where is Janmashtami celebrated in Mathura?

Janmashtami festival in Mathura is amongst the largest religious festivals of India and attended by thousands of devotees every year. It is predominantly observed at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, the shrine of Lord Krishna's birth. The temple is beautiful decorated with light, flowers and rangoli. Special bhajans, dance dramas, and performances of Krishna Leela are organized throughout the day. As the hour of Lord Krishna's birth at midnight, the temple bells peal, mantras are recited, and the baby Krishna idol is set up in a cradle, which is the religious culmination of the celebration.

The majority of tourists prefer to commute from Delhi and surrounding cities via private taxi. The distance for the round trip is approximately 180 to 200 km. The cab per km rate varies from ₹10 to ₹12 for a sedan and ₹14 to ₹16 for an SUV. Janmashtami full-day rental packages begin from Rs 4000 to ₹4500 for sedans and ₹5500 to ₹6000 for SUVs. Toll, parking, and driver fees (₹300–₹500) are additional.

How I Celebrated Janmashtami in Vrindavan – My Real Experience

I’ve celebrated Janmashtami many times at home, but experiencing it in Vrindavan—the very land where Lord Krishna spent his childhood—was something completely different. Last year, I decided to be in Vrindavan on this sacred day. And honestly, it was one of the most spiritual and emotional experiences of my life.

I reached Vrindavan a day before Janmashtami to avoid the heavy rush. Even from a distance, the vibe of the town was magical. The streets were lit up, colorful flowers hung over lanes, and you could hear “Radhe Radhe” from every corner. People weren’t just preparing for a festival—they were preparing to welcome Krishna himself. You could feel that energy.

Locals, saints, tourists, and Krishna devotees from all over India and even from abroad had started gathering. I checked into a small guest house close to the Banke Bihari temple, and even the owner had a big smile, saying, “You’re lucky to be here during Janmashtami.”

Best Time to Visit Mathura Vrindavan

The months of October, November, December, January, February and March are the best time to visit Mathura. The weather is pleasant and cool, you can witness the beauty of Yamuna River. The temperature ranges from 5 to 27 degree Celsius in winters. And as this is a peak festive time, you can enjoy them with great joy. By the time of monsoon, the temperature ranges from 24 to 32 degree Celsius.

You can plan a trip to Mathura in monsoon too, the weather is soothing, the cold rain showers and the hot summers reside. Moreover, this season adds to the beauty of Ghats and August September months are known for Janmashtami celebration in Mathura. Summers are the most avoided time as the temperature ranges to 45 degrees Celsius. By this time Yamuna river also dries up, hence not allowing devotees to take a dip.

In Which Month There is no Crowd in Vrindavan?

The best months to visit Vrindavan with less crowds are July and August during the monsoon season. Another perfect time is early December or January excluding the festive days. The winter chill keeps away the casual tourists and the atmosphere is calm and perfect to explore the famous temples like Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON Temple and Prem Mandir. Better avoid visiting during fetsivals likeHoli, Janmashtami and Radha Ashtami due to a lot of crowd. For a hassle-free experience, choose weekdays instead of weekends.
