Where is Janmashtami celebrated in Mathura?

Janmashtami festival in Mathura is amongst the largest religious festivals of India and attended by thousands of devotees every year. It is predominantly observed at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, the shrine of Lord Krishna's birth. The temple is beautiful decorated with light, flowers and rangoli. Special bhajans, dance dramas, and performances of Krishna Leela are organized throughout the day. As the hour of Lord Krishna's birth at midnight, the temple bells peal, mantras are recited, and the baby Krishna idol is set up in a cradle, which is the religious culmination of the celebration.

The majority of tourists prefer to commute from Delhi and surrounding cities via private taxi. The distance for the round trip is approximately 180 to 200 km. The cab per km rate varies from ₹10 to ₹12 for a sedan and ₹14 to ₹16 for an SUV. Janmashtami full-day rental packages begin from Rs 4000 to ₹4500 for sedans and ₹5500 to ₹6000 for SUVs.
