Glycoside hydrolases (also called glycosidases or glycosyl hydrolases) assist in the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds in complex sugars. They are extremely common enzymes with roles in nature including degradation of biomass such as cellulose and hemicellulose, in anti-bacterial defense strategies (e.g., lysozyme), in pathogenesis mechanisms (e.g., viral neuraminidases) and in normal cellular function (e.g., trimming mannosidases involved in N-linked glycoprotein biosynthesis). Together with glycosyltransferases, glycosidases form the major catalytic machinery for the synthesis and breakage of glycosidic bonds. https://diagnostic-enzymes...

#Threonine is an amino acid used in protein biosynthesis. It contains an amine group, a carboxyl group, and a side #chain containing a #hydroxyl group, making it an uncharged polar amino acid. It is essential for humans, which means the body cannot #synthesize it. It must be obtained from the diet. Threonine is synthesized from aspartate in bacteria. It is also worn for animal nutrition as nourish additives.

A steroid is an organic compound with four rings arranged in a specific configuration, such as dietary lipid cholesterol, estradiol, testosterone and dexamethasone. Steroid biosynthesis (steroidogenesis) begins with the transfer of free cholesterol from intracellular stores into the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it is transformed into pregnenolone. The conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone is the rate-limiting step of steroidogenesis and occurs in the single substrate-binding pocket of the cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme. Steroids function as important components of cell membranes and many of them are signalling molecules. The malfunction in steroid biosynthesis disrupts the cellular functions and leads to a wide range of human diseases like Lysosomal acid lipase deficiency and Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome. In Creative Proteomics, we provide reliable, rapid and cost-effective steroid biosynthesis related analysis service to speed up your research purposes ranging from diseases diagnosis to gaining new insights in disease mechanism or treatment. https://metabolomics.creat...

Exosomes are derived from the endosomal system, and the molecular mechanisms of biogenesis include ESCRT-dependent and independent biogenesis processes. It has been found that certain exosomes are highly enriched in RNA and are involved in initiating the process of exosome biosynthesis, release, and uptake. In some cases, exosomes are transported to more distant sites even if neighbouring cells can interact with or utilize them. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the differences in exosomal RNA content to study vari.ous mechanisms involved in exosome biogenesis and uptake. https://www.cd-genomics.co...

Advances in Infectious Disease Therapeutics: New Developments in Targeted Antibiotic Discovery

One promising class is inhibitors of the bacterial biosynthesis of folate, an essential vitamin for bacteria. By blocking certain enzymes involved in folate synthesis, these drugs kill bacteria without affecting human folate pathways that are different. Early clinical trials show they effectively treat multidrug-resistant bacterial infections with a low risk of side effects or resistance emerging. Researchers continue optimizing these drugs' properties like pharmacokinetics and spectrum of activity.

Alcohol dehydrogenases (ADH) are a group of dehydrogenase enzymes that occur in many organisms and facilitate the interconversion between alcohols and aldehydes or ketones with the reduction of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+ to NADH). In Humans and many other animals, they serve to break down alcohols that otherwise are toxic, and they also participate in geneRation of useful aldehyde, ketone, or alcohol groups during biosynthesis of various metabolites. In yeast, plants, and many bacteria, some alcohol dehydrogenases catalyze the opposite reaction as part of fermentation to ensure a constant supply of NAD+. https://www.creative-enzym...

Terpenes are linear or cyclic hydrocarbons that are chemically related to steroids: they are often the precursor of steroids in biosynthesis. Although terpenes are in small quantities in cell, it has pivotal biology functions in cell signaling, metabolism, and biosynthesis. In addition, terpenes are also useful active ingredients in agricultural pesticides. https://www.creative-enzym...
