Arteta's 'game-changer' rejected, will he leave the club after all? "PL multiple clubs in official contact"

Reece Nelson is attracting interest from several Premier League (PL) clubs.

"Nottingham Forest and West Ham have made official contact with Arsenal over the signing of Nelson," TeamTalk reported on Wednesday (Jan. 21).

Nelson has been with Arsenal's youth system since 2009. After his first-team call-up, he continued to wear the Gunners' colors, with the exception of two seasons on loan. He is known for his quick dribbling and concise passing.

Despite being highly touted, he didn't get many opportunities at Arsenal. He was mostly a substitute and not a starter. In the 2021-22 season, he went on loan to Feyenoord, where he played 21 games but only scored two goals and provided two assists.

After returning to the club, he remained mainly on the bench, but one of the 'best moments' of his career came. In the 2022-23 season, he scored a dramatic late stoppage-time winner against Bournemouth to give his team the win. The goal earned Nelson the 'Game Changer of the Season' award. He was quickly recognized by manager Mikel Arteta and was set to receive increased playing time.

However, his position remained the same. Of his 15 league appearances this season, he has started just once. The rest have all come as substitutes. His minutes per game have also dropped from 18.5 to 17.1 compared to last season.

He is looking for a move and several teams are keeping an eye on him. "Crystal Palace are targeting Nelson as a replacement for Michael Oliseh," according to Cut Offside in England. And TeamTalk reports that Nottingham and West Ham have officially approached Arsenal.

Nottingham finished 17th this season, avoiding relegation. The club are looking to do better and are rebuilding after sacking manager Steve Cooper. West Ham are preparing for the new season after the appointment of Julen Lopetegui. With Lucas Paqueta potentially facing disciplinary action for 'betting allegations' and Mohamed Kheddous attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, the Hammers could be facing a departure in the attacking ranks. Both clubs are looking to strengthen their squads with the signing of Nelson.

'Dirty play' rumblings from injury comebacks to Brazil clash in North London derby

Dele Alli (Tottenham) has been criticized by fans since his return from injury.

Tottenham lost 2-3 to Arsenal in the 35th round of the 2023-24 English Premier League (EPL) on Monday (Aug. 28) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. The loss leaves Tottenham on 60 points and unable to close the gap on fourth-place Aston Villa (67 points).

Spurs conceded three goals in the first half alone. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored an own goal from a corner in the 15th minute, then conceded a second goal to Xherdan Shaqiri from a counterattack in the 27th minute, and then conceded a third goal to Kai Havertz from another corner in the 38th minute.

In the second half, Arsenal poured it on. Christian Romero capitalized on a David Luiz mistake to score in the 19th minute, and Son Heung-min converted a penalty kick (PK) in the 40th minute. However, they were unable to find the equalizer in the end and suffered the defeat.

It was Hicharisson's return from injury. He came on for James Maddison in the 17th minute of the second half, trailing 0-3. He moved up front and naturally, Son Heung-min moved to left wing forward. He was aggressive up front, battling and competing with the Arsenal defense.

The moment in question occurred in the 42nd minute of the second half. After Arsenal won the kickoff after going 2-3 down, Hicharisson ran forward. Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes tried to block him and collided with him hard. Magalhaes went down and the referee pointed to the spot.

It was clear that he was intentionally running towards Magalhaes, regardless of the ball. Magalhaes gets to his feet and expresses his displeasure to Richelisson, who doesn't back down. It was a clash between two Brazilians.

According to the UK's Daily Mail, fans reacted to the play with comments such as "He lunged at Magalhaes after the kick-off, that's not soccer" and "He should have been sent off. It was clear he was intent on hurting the player."

22-year-old 2R prospect blames himself "I was weighed down by fielding mistakes"

"My heart was heavy after the fielding error."

SSG Landers infielder Ko Myung-jun started at first base and batted seventh against the Samsung Lions of the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea, on Tuesday.

He went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, an RBI, and a run scored in the team's 9-6 victory. It was Ko's first career multi-hit game and first career RBI.

But Ko Myung-joon couldn't laugh to his heart's content. It was his own error in the third inning. In the top of the third inning, he failed to field a ground ball hit by Kim Jae-sung. His first error of the season.

The team scored six runs in the third inning to take control of the game, but almost gave up two runs after the error. But the bats came alive, and ace Elias pitched six innings of four-run ball (two earned). Go Myung-joon was relieved.

"My heart was heavy today because of my defensive mistakes, but I'm glad the team won," he said after the game.

"Before the game, the hitting coaches advised me to think about the center field ball and go to the plate. "I think I've always had a lot on my mind when I'm batting, but I just focused on each ball with a simple mind, and I think that's why I got good shots," he said.

The former Segwangjoong-Seadang player, who was drafted by SSG's predecessor SK with the 18th pick in the second round in 2021, only played three games in 2021 and two in 2023, but this season is different. He has been given a chance to play with the support of manager Lee Sung-yong. In six games, he is batting .227 with five hits, one RBI, and two runs scored.

"As the coach continues to give me opportunities, I will do my best to show a good performance and contribute to the team's victory," said Ko Myung-joon.
