Is DAS Storage Still a Good Option for Fast and Reliable Data Access?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been looking into different storage solutions, and I keep coming across DAS (Direct-Attached Storage) as an option. From what I understand, it’s directly connected to a single computer or server, making it fast and efficient for certain workloads. However, with the rise of NAS (Network-Attached Storage) and cloud storage, I’m wondering if DAS is still a viable option today.

Some questions that come to mind:

Performance – How does DAS compare to NAS or SAN in terms of speed and reliability?

Use cases – What types of workloads or industries still benefit from DAS over other storage options?

Scalability – Is DAS limited in expansion, or are there modern solutions that make it more flexible?

Cost-effectiveness – Is DAS a better investment for certain businesses or personal use cases?
