In Capernaum where we experienced the White Synagogue built upon the ruins of the synagogue of Jesus’ time. I wonder if St. Peter, shown here looking powerful and holding the keys (with which to bind and loose here on earth) ever wondered, as I do, if a pair of angels stood above him with a size 17 neck millstone (as pictured) every time he preached or taught? As I shared with the group at this site, I’m reminded of the scribal note in the margin of an early centuries manuscript which I’ve adapted: “ Lord, to those who have listened grant wisdom and to him who has spoken grant mercy. Amen.”
