The grease is applied to the metal surfaces directly and seals the surface from oxidation, preventing rust formation. The use of such a grease is ideally suited for use with installations subjected to extreme environments: marine vessels and agricultural machinery, vehicles, pipes, and construction tools. There are different types of greases. Most normal petroleum-based greases, besides causing harm to the environment because of the chemicals that are toxic or harmful to health and which get oxidized easily, have lanolin-based grease for corrosion protection, are a more ecologically sustainable option, have a very long shelf life, and perform quite effectively downstream.
