IPL2025: Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer apologizes...because!

Shreyas Iyer put in a brilliant performance in his first match as captain of Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. In this match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Iyer remained unbeaten on 97 runs off 42 balls , guiding his team to an 11-run victory.

Along with the opening partnership, he formed a key partnership with Buttler. He scored 74 runs in 41 balls and impressed. However, he had a chance to dismiss the dangerous Sai Sudarshan early. But, captain Shreyas Iyer made a mistake. On the fifth ball of the 11th over of the innings, Sai Sudarshan tried to play a shot from above the covers. The ball was going slightly above captain Shreyas Iyer, who was inside the circle.
