Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (Epdm) - Its Origin, Properties And Applications

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (Epdm) is manufactured by copolymerization of ethylene and propylene using a small amount of non-conjugated diene monomer such as ethylidene norbornene (ENB). These diene monomers gives EPDM its saturated structure which makes it highly resistant to heat, moisture, ozone cracking and weathering. The diene monomer also introduces double bonds along the polymer chains which enable crosslinking and vulcanization of EPDM.
