Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy: An Advancement in Arthroscopic Technique

Unilateral biportal endoscopy is an arthroscopic technique used for knee joint surgeries. With this technique, surgeons perform the procedure through only two small incisions on one side of the knee rather than the traditional four incisions.

In an unilateral biportal endoscopy offers clear advantages over traditional four-portal arthroscopy with reduced incisions, improved visualization, quicker recovery, and higher patient satisfaction. While experience is important, the technique learning curve is reasonable for most surgeons. Appropriate case selection and customizing portals when necessary allows the procedure to be successfully applied in the majority of knee arthroscopic situations.
