Kau Tapen Lodge – Week 5: February 1st to 8th, 2025
At the start of the week, the Rio Grande still had a bit of tea color from last week’s rise, with slightly faster water and a higher level. The Menendez River also received some water from the mountains, which made it a bit colored but still fishable. Throughout the week, both rivers gradually saw water levels drop and the clarity improve. The fishing techniques remained similar for the Rio Grande, with small to medium-sized flies, long leaders, and Type 3 sinking lines used in the deeper holes. In the Menendez, we started the week with larger flies, gradually downsizing as the water cleared.
