Available Mycoplasma Testing Methods

There are variety of techniques available in the market for detection of mycoplasma contamination in cell cultures which can be broadly classified into three categories:

Direct Methods- These methods detect Mycoplasma Testing directly by culturing or amplification of mycoplasma genetic material. The commonly used direct methods include broth and agar culture, PCR and real-time PCR. These are considered gold standard but take 3-6 weeks for results.
