Shakti Peeth is also called Sati Peeth. When Goddess Sati immolated herself in the fire, Lord Shiva, consort of Maa Sati, felt into a deep grive and carried Mata Sati’s body on his shoulder. Shakti peeths are the locations where Maa Sati’s body parts fell on the ground. Each Shakti peeth shows a unique form of the goddess.
