A Portuguese coach who assisted former national team coach Paulo Bento will help Myung-bo Hong with the national team.

The Korea Football Association announced the appointment of Portuguese coach João Arroso as the national team's head coach and tactics coach, and Thiago Maia, also from Portugal, as tactical analysis coach.

Arroso began his coaching career at Sporting and has been the national team coach since 2010, while Maia has worked with Bento for eight years, including their time together at Sporting and the national team.

Hong appointed the two coaches after interviewing candidates in Europe last month, and decided to add a physical coach after negotiations fell through with a leading candidate.
