Türkiye'deki kurtarma ekipleri, bir hafta boyunca yeraltında mahsur kalan Amerikalı mağara adamını yüzeye yaklaştırdı. 40 yıllık usta mağaracı Mark Dickey, mide kanaması nedeniyle 31 Ağustos'ta Türkiye'nin güneyindeki Morka Mağarası'nda mahsur kalmıştı. 1.000 metre (3.000 ft) derinlikte bulundu.
Türkiye'den ve diğer ülkelerden kurtarma ekipleri Dicky'yi kurtarmak için yorulmadan çalışıyor. Onu mağara sisteminde yavaşça yukarı taşımak için halatlar, makaralar ve diğer ekipmanlar kullandılar. 11 Eylül'de kurtarıcılar Dickey'i 180 metre (590 ft) derinliğe götürmeyi başardılar.
Mağara sisteminin dar ve dolambaçlı geçitleri nedeniyle kurtarma çalışmaları zorludur.
