I was broken for a couple of weeks. Finally ground down my joints to their new normal and nerves have adjusted. My 1st walk in awhile today. Lovely out with flowers in the fruit trees and oranges and lemons shook off a few trees with the winds we have had.

The Yolo Bypass is flooded. This low ground is all that keeps Davis from physically being part of Sacramento. You can see Sacramento in the distance about 1/3 from the left side of the top picture on the horizon. Great clouds this morning.

The city has carved back the base of our fallen tree so it is now easy to access the drive way. They don't really know what to do at this point. As far as we are concerned, it can stay like that for months until a safe way to remove the stump presents itself. Only 1 foot away is the water line into the house and a stump grinder may just damage, through vibration, the water source. Any ideas? Also just finished taxes!!!

Desert candles blowing in the wind. Better pictures on camera and not this cell phone. I have wanted to see this plant for years. I also saw an adult female and baby desert tortoises late this afternoon. Very cool and a great end to the day.

2 tortoises, one big female and one small about year old baby. The older one was still in her burrow and i had to push the picture to see the head. Saw them within 10 minutes of each other. I was told to keep my eyes open for ravens because they are serious baby tortoise predators.

Time to aestivate. Too hot. The question is to climb into the hole Bax is digging outside the back door or in a ground squirrel hole or underneath an almond tree where the soil has been removed to a depth of about 5 feet. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

My oh my. The silly season seems to have hit. Maybe the heat is causing the weirdos to be out in force online today. I would rather enjoy the clouds

Some of the shishito peppers matured to red. They taste great too. I pour about 1 tsp oil on the peppers in a bowl and sprinkle with a bit of salt. They are cooked in a medium hot stainless steel pan and shuffled around for about 10 minutes. Easier and less dangerous than cooking them in a blistering hot layer of oil. These are not finished cooking.

The joys of growing from seed, yet another incel. However, the seed that germinated in the garden 1st week of February, yes February!, is 8 feet tall and definitely female.
