Chopta and Chandrashila Adventure

Chopta is a beautiful and tranquil village located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India, which is also referred to as the ‘Mini Switzerland’ of India; it is the base for the challenging trek to Chandrashila Peak, which is at a height of 4,000 meters.

The trek to the Chandrashila is an experience which combines the joy of exploring nature with the feeling of spiritual upliftment. The trek goes through thick deodar and rhododendron trees and one can get to see quite a few animals and birds here. The trail provides spectacular vistas of snow clad mountains such as Nanda Devi, Trishul and Chaukhamba.

The top of the Chandrashila offers breathtaking views that are worth the effort and time that one spends trekking up the mountain. The summit has the Tungnath Temple which is the highest temple of Lord Shiva in the world and so gives a religious touch to the trekking.

For the first time trekkers or the nature lovers, Chopta and Chandrashila trek is an experience which is sure to enthral you with the beauty of nature and the charm of the mountains.
