"You took me to the FA Cup with Man United and now you want to fire me?"

What's next for Manchester United?

Manchester United won the 2023/24 English FA Cup final against Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on May 25 at 11:00 pm.

The Red Devils defeated the mighty Citizens to win the FA Cup. It was the pinnacle they wanted so badly.

United's FA Cup triumph has put the spotlight on the future of manager Eric ten Haag.

United's appointment of Van Gaal was a move to turn things around. He was determined to change a bad atmosphere.

The early signs were good. Van Gaal's style has been compared to that of Sir Alex Ferguson, who was known for his strictness.

After a creaky start to last season, United started to get results under Van Gaal.

The Red Devils defeated Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup last season, breaking the cycle of irrelevance from the 2017/18 season.

Most notably, they joined the top four and qualified for the Champions League after the 2020/21 season.

United have given Van Gaal full support ahead of this season. They spent heavily to strengthen their squad with the likes of Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

However, expectations were not met. The club's worst performances in the league and Champions League have been criticized and speculation is rife.

Most notably, they lost the most games in a single season and tied the most goals conceded by a team in 47 years since the 1976/77 season.

The club has shown a willingness to make changes, even if it means winning, and a new list of coaches is being assembled to replace Van Gaal.

"If United don't want me, I will go to another team to win trophies, that's what I do. That's what I do," he said, suggesting that he is open to parting ways.
