🌿 Rituals & Traditions
1. Riverbank Worship

Early morning, devotees gather by rivers or lakes to offer turmeric water, flowers, rice, lamps, and coconuts as Neivedyam to the water goddess. This symbolizes gratitude and nature’s bounty.
2. Special Food Offerings (Kalandha Sadham)

Families prepare a variety of mixed rice dishes—lemon rice, tamarind rice, coconut rice, sweet pongal—to share and offer near the water’s edge. A symbol of communal joy and abundance.
3. Sumangali Pooja & Yellow Thread Tying

Married women and young girls wrap sacred yellow threads or mangalsutras, exchange turmeric, betel leaves, and bangles—praying for marital harmony, longevity, and prosperity. 💫 Spiritual & Astrological Significance
Sun in Cancer (Water Sign): The astrological alignment enhances the water element’s energy, nurturing emotions and family bonds.
Monsoon Renewal: With rivers reaching peak flow, the festival symbolizes rejuvenation, fertility, and hope—especially vital for agriculture.
