Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters: An Essential Medical Device for IV Treatment

What are PICCs?
PICCs, or peripherally inserted central catheters, are long, thin, flexible tubes that are inserted into a vein in the arm and then threaded into a large vein near the heart. PICCs are used to deliver medications, fluids, blood products, and nutrition into the bloodstream when intravenous (IV) access is needed for an extended period.

In PICCs provide reliable long-term IV access for patients requiring frequent or ongoing administration of medications, fluids, nutrition or blood products. With proper insertion, maintenance and nursing care, PICCs safely and comfortably deliver therapy.
