America: Why did America arrest an Indian scholar?

A US court has issued a stay order against the deportation of Indian-origin research scholar Badr Khan Suri from the US until further orders . Virginia District Judge Patricia Giles has blocked the Trump administration's efforts to deport Badr Khan to India. The court issued the order on a petition filed by Badr Khan Suri's wife, Mafaz Yousef Saleh. Badr Khan Suri was detained by the US Department of Homeland Security on March 17, alleging that he has links to the Palestinian organization Hamas.
He is a research scholar at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. His wife, Mafaz Saleh, is Palestinian and is a journalist in the US.
