Comments on Sanatana Dharma: Supreme Court grants temporary stay on new FIRs against Udayanidhi

The Supreme Court has made it clear that no new FIRs should be registered over the controversial remarks made by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M. Udhayanidhi Stalin that “Sanatana Dharma should be eradicated” . It has extended the interim orders given in the cases already registered, providing protection against coercive measures. The bench opinion The case was heard by a bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar. It clarified that there is a need to review the FIRs registered in all areas on Stalin’s remarks and a stay should be imposed on the registration of new cases.
