Leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, is a chronic infectious disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae. It primarily affects the skin, peripheral nerves, upper respiratory tract, and eyes.

Multidrug therapy (MDT) has been the cornerstone of Leprosy Treatment since its introduction in the 1980s. This approach involves the combination of three antibiotics: dapsone, rifampicin, and clofazimine. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a standard regimen of MDT based on the classification of leprosy as either paucibacillary (PB) or multibacillary (MB).
