History of Vaishno Devi Dham

The believers said that during the Treta Yuga, the second age in Hindu mythology evil forces threatened Earth. Bhumi, the Earth Goddess asked for the help from the Trimurti to save her from evil's grip. The wives of the Trimurti—Brahma - Saraswati, Vishnu - Lakshmi, and Shiv – Parvati, joined forces to create Vaishno Devi because they lacked the power to act alone. After many fights, the goddess beat the evil forces and chose to stay on earth to guard it.

Maa Vaishno Devi Dham Vrindavan is replica of the original Vaishno Devi Dham located in Jammu. This temple was built by Shri J.C. Chaudhry in 2003 who was a great devotee of Mata Vaishno Devi. This dham is span over 12 acres with 141-foot-tall statue of Maa Vaishno Devi.

Why is Jwala Devi Temple famous?

The Jwala Devi Temple, also famous as Jagarwalo ki Kuldevi, is believed to be one of the 51 Shakti Peeths of Goddess Sati. According to Hindu mythology, when Mata Sati sacrificed herself in the Yajna, Lord Vishnu cut her body into pieces and all her parts fell at various locations, Jwala Devi is said to be the place where her tongue fell.

Unlike other temples, there is no idol in Jwala Devi Temple but the goddess manifests herself as a set of eternal flames that emerge from the rock. These flames have been burning continuously for centuries which makes this temple a significant pilgrimage site. Many rulers, including Maharaja Ranjit Singh, contributed to the temple’s construction and upkeep.
